There original species name has been lost during a sabotage that almost eradicated all relative data, but it was swiftly been dealt with and with the remaining data the research continued.
The experiment was to amplify the creature body with stimulants to survive in the hars environments, on the volcanic surface of Drakon V.
So their exoskeleton could be used later on spaceship plates that can protect the ships from solar flares or any high temperature radiation, but later on the project was cancelled due to the creatures size was to small to harvest enough material for the fast produced warships coming out of the construction line.
So they were left alone on the Planet to live there life.

After decades the species grow in number further evolving.
Now they are the only living thing on the planet Drakon V.
Further investigations shows that the specimens do not age after they reach the mature state of there life cycle.
The so called "perfect" organism .
